Welcome to Unified Systems of Martial Arts - Truly Miles Above The Rest!
Established in 2001 and located at 10101 East Hampden Ave, Denver,Co. (across from Kennedy Golf course). Unified Systems of Martial Arts is founded upon instilling the principles of honor, respect, courage, perseverance, and outstanding instruction. Our training philosophy is impart knowledge first and award belt rankings second. A piece of cloth will not protect you, but knowledge and training will! Remember, not all dojos are equal, and not all senseis know how to teach or pass on the knowledge that is needed. Most senseis are part-time instructors that can not offer our dedication, expertise or training.
Sensei Paul R.Carpenter began his training in 1976 with Grand Master James Coglin in Shotokan receiving his Black Belt in 1979 and since that time has received his black belt ranking in a mixed martial art blend of five styles of martial arts. He currently holds a 9th Dan Black Belt under Grand Master Coglin and is a 2007 inductee in the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Since 1996 Sensei Paul has dedicated himself full time to teaching children, teenagers, adults, corporate and business groups the disciplines of the martial arts and personal self-defense.
Sensei Paul has trained thousands of children, teenagers and adults through his training seminars and at his dojo, the Cherry Creek schools, private high schools and private day cares. During that time, he has achieved an outstanding reputation for teaching the martial arts to all ages. Sensei Paul operates one of the longest running private and public day care self-defense programs in the state.
In early 2001, Sensei Paul opened Unified Systems of Martial Arts in hopes of reintroducing the basic precepts of honor, respect and tradition as part of the martial arts training - concepts that have become lost or forgotten as martial arts training became more "Americanized." U.S. Martial Arts is family owned and operated, and is very honored to have over 20 talented and skilled Black Belts as instructors. Our tournament team, "The Fighting Dragons," competes both statewide and nationally.
A Martial Art can be defined as a system of techniques - physical and mental exercises developed as a successful means for self-defense, both armed and unarmed. Remember self-defense does not always have to be a physical defense; it can also be a mental defense as well. The martial arts teaches us focus, helps with our attention span, helps achieve better grades, better social skills, respect, and self discipline. We build self esteem and self confidence, and learn to avoid a physical confrontation using our confidence and skills, without losing our self-respect, and at the same time, avoiding a possible dangerous situation. The end result is one to protect in whatever way necessary, to avoid any and all harm that could come our way, both mental and physical.
U.S. Martial Arts teaches both physical and mental techniques, skills and abilities that benefit the practitioner in any situation. We have incorporated curriculum in our classes for the younger students on "Stranger Danger", "Bully Intimidation" and "Peer Pressure", and for the older students techniques to prevent assault,(unarmed and armed), rape, robbery. Most of our fighting styles emphasize weaponless techniques while others teach the use of our traditional weapons. Some styles focus on blocking and grappling while others put their emphasis on kicking and striking. Our Weaponless systems use hands, elbows, feet, shin, knees in striking and blocking techniques. This also includes knife, gun and various weapon disarms. Students are also trained in the use of the bo-staff, bokken, knife, and nunchakus.
Today, the martial arts are practiced for health and fitness, sport, law enforcement, spiritual benefits as well as for self-defense. The Martial Arts is a way of life, the knowledge you gain will carry with you, your whole life and will be used more than you could ever imagine.
At U.S. Martial Arts there are no contracts to sign, no hidden costs, and the BEST prices around. We offer five star quality training at three star prices. U.S. Martial Arts is MILES ABOVE THE REST and for good reasons. See for yourself the difference quality makes.
